As everyone knows we have been having horrible weather, which makes it hard to take really wonderful pictures. Also allergy season is at full bloom which makes it really hard for me to go places because I'm allergic to a lot of things outside but doesn't stop me from going places. All I have to make sure I have is eppi pens, inhaler, water, cell phone and another person. I was really excited about this week I love taking pictures of landscapes. No allergies, hot/rainy weather will stop me from taking pictures outside.
Today (6.27.13) The sun finally came out and decided to drag my boyfriend along to take some pictures on my way to Bristol. The old barn is on the way there. M, ISO80, 1/500, F4.5, vivid G and cloudy setting)
This is another picture I took of the barn on the side of the road heading toward Bristol. (M, ISO80, 1/1250, F4.0, vivid G, and cloudy setting)
This picture is the New Haven river right below the Bartlett Falls right around the corner. I haven't been up here since Irene and I can't believe how much the rocks have shifted, what is a very powerful weapon.

This picture was taken on Monday(6.24.13) and for some odd reason when me and my boyfriend where hiking I was wondering why I was having a hard time hiking this its because not only was it humid out the temperature outside was 103, but it was well worth the hike. The name of this waterfall is Abbey Pond Cascades Middlebury, VT (M, ISO1600, F8.0, 1/50, vivid green and sunny setting).

Getting the perfect photo for me is getting experience taking pictures with all kinds of different settings at different times of a day and angles. The two pictures I think that show this for me is my last two pictures of Texas falls.
"Getting the perfect photo"
Wow Rose, your photos are awesome! I really like them all, especially the ones that bring water into the picture. The flowing water creates a much different effect than the stagnant calm water.
ReplyDeleteI really like the shot of heading down to the cascades. The view point makes me feel like I'm above it all. "The sandbox is your playground," so to speak. You got a great feel across in these shots.
You have a great variety of shots, I love the Abbey Pond cascades photos, especially the second one! I like that the photo gets lighter toward the top. Its the perfect amount of light that comes through, NIce job
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your (4th) picture of Bartlett Falls. The green branches at the top draw the eye in and then it follows the water down the frame. The rocks jutting into frame in the foreground also give a wonderful sense of depth and added movement.
ReplyDeleteI also love all of the pictures of Abbey Ponds Cascades. The light and shadows playing on the scene through the trees and the fallen tree creating angles across the frame really takes these pictures to a higher level. (I like the mouse, too).
these a beautiful pictures, I wished I had more time to enjoy so much of the outdoors, I sneak in photos as much as possible ~ I am lucky however to also have a job near Lake Groton in the summer as a second job unfortunately my first one is 5 10 hours in a restaurant, one of these days I am going to travel from early morning until late at night and spend the day taking photos and going through them at home.. luckily I am heading to the Adirondacks on Wednesday for a much needed day to hang out with the boyfriend, fishing is on the agenda.
ReplyDeleteAgain, you did a good job ~ the woods, river, lakes, sunsets just having photos to look at and know you can place yourself there at any given time and relax in your mind is definitely a great place to imagine.
Very well done! All of these shots are good, but seems you have an affinity for the water. All of your water shots have excellent compositions. I also like how you took many with a close and a far shot. You have provided us with a great feel for these locations. The settings on your camera are well chosen to give us good contrast without blowing out the highlights or making the shadows too overpowering.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone one for your comments. I really did enjoy this week I love taking pictures of waterfalls.
ReplyDeleteI am loving the these river shots. In drawing one a few semesters back one of the students drew a charcoal picture of Texas Falls, so I immediately recognized it. I am seriously jealous of the beautiful landscapes you have in Vermont. The last shot here is my favorite, I love the way the tree leans over the water forming a good strong angle in the layout. The drawing I referred to was done from a slightly lower vantage point but it too included the tree at an angle which I thought really made the drawing as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jason, I worked really hard this time to get a great picture. I also do remember the picture.

ReplyDeleteWell glad that you went out even with allergies because these are great. I love the first one with the old barn in it and how the barn isn't centered in your photo. I also like the river one with the tree laying down on top of the little waterfall. Water is one of my favorite things to take pictures of. I've always wanted to get a good picture with the reflection on mountains on the lake, which will happen one day because I am determined enough. These photos make me want to go out and walk up and down the river. Thank you!

This is my favorite week - everyone is taking such beautiful photos. I really like the first one - the sitting at the third line was perfect - I can't imagine if it had been centered at this point in our course.
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing where stormy days can make some of the most captivating photos - the first photo really shows greata colors that complement eachother, a beautiful sunny blue sky day may not have the same appeal.
