Well since the sun decided to only come out once this only week I was forced to take most my pictures inside.
I used the same setting on the camera for all three pictures (Macro, AWB, ISO80, 1/4, F4.0), just different lighting.
This first picture I took I used just my lamp light during the afternoon. With just some lighting from the lamp you can see the shadow pretty well.
The second picture I used my lamp light plus the ceiling light in the afternoon. The shadow in this picture is just slightly different from the first picture because of the light above the objects.
Then the third picture was taken with no lights on in the afternoon. You can see even using natural light there is shadow.
I enjoy how you used the same picture and angle for all three of these pictures. I also found it interesting that you found the shadow important with the different lights, I unfortunately didn't think about the light with the shadows. Interesting. I also use to have those toys back in the day!

On the first two there really isn't that much of a difference, except there is slightly more detail in the shadows of the second. I too used identical set ups and locations, with the camera mounted on a tripod. It this so I could get a good comparison between shots. I think between all of them the first is my favorite, mainly because there is slightly more contrast on it than the other two.

I didn't see that much of a difference on the first two either, loved the last one as it not only didn't have light I saw the same exact detail as in the other photos with light..
