Week 7

One thing is for sure photoshop isn't easy to use and I know I just like the basic resize, cropping, touch up, color exposure. I did try my best. Here is the after picture and the two pictures I used to form the new picture after that.

  1. You did a great job of keeping the lines clean around the layers you were adding to your background as well as adjusting the scale for a believable fit.

Here are some tips to make your Photoshop images even better. Analyze the lighting in each of your source images. Similar lighting in terms of angle and coloring will make your job all that much easier.

The ponies were lit with a yellower lighting than the doll, so doing an image adjust for color balance on the ponies could make their lighting fit better with the background image. Similarly, the light source on your daughter is on her face, which gave her a shadow line around the edges. The light source in the background is at a slightly different angle and softer, so adjusting the brightness/contrast and curves may allow her to merge even more with this background.

  4. Hey Rose, I think you did great with this. You obviously used layers and the selections tools effectively. I agree with Jen about lighting and making the images combined look more realistic.
The images of the girl placed on different backgrounds are very nice. I like them especially because you paid attention to the rule of thirds when placing the girl into the photo. They made for interesting framing and the technique you used is prevalent in catalogs and websites across all different kinds of businesses in regard to setting shots to sell product.

  5. Good job on these, Rose. Walking down the path the first time is always difficult. Once you walk down this path a few times you will wonder what was so hard about it in the first place. I agree with Jen, that your attention to detail on your layers really makes a huge difference in your finished pieces. Keep up the great work!

  6. I didn't pick up on this assignment quickly, I had to watch the video many times, finally finished last night. I too had difficulty but looks as though we both got it.
These were great photos to use, creativity is key as well (that I am coming more into, slowly). GREAT JOB

  9. The first one here with the doll and the toy ponies, is well done. There is a slight difference in lighting but the selection was incredibly well done.
