Week 9 Dodge and Burn

I have to say I have been playing around with this weeks assignment and I decided to use a old picture that I really liked but the only thing I didn't like about the picture was it came out so dark, yet it was a sunny day.

This is the new picture after I used all the setting below to change it
Dodge Tool 12x
Exposure 1 layer
and Modify exposure layer
The original image

For this picture I just wanted to see what kind of difference I could do with hardly any color
These are the settings I used

Dodge tool 10x to the pinkish color
Burn Tool 11x to make the black darker

  1. You were able to intensify the colors and add a lot more depth of field to these images by using some well-placed dodge and burn applications. The sunset looks other-worldly now that the reds in the sky and the outlines of the clouds are so intense. In your roadside image I feel like the clouds are moving toward me now, and having the darker clouds closer while the clouds and sky further out are brighter gives a sense that there are good things in the future just around the bend. Nicely done.

  2. I am not on my own computer right now, so I may not be seeing these correctly, but I think that the intesinity of the darkness on the second sky shot is way too much. I am not seeing any details remaining, but again, I am not on my own computer and may be seeing this completely wrong.
